AxioCam FAQ's

I see light (or white) spots and marks on my image.

This may be because you are using a white reference image which was taken with some dark spots (dust) in the field. Try switching the white reference off.

My live speed is slow.

To speed up the live rate try the following:

  • In the ‘focus’ tab select ‘medium’ or ‘fast’.
  • Reduce the size of the live window.
  • Switch the focus meter and histogram off.

My live image looks noisy.

The system will try to maintain a reasonable live rate to enable you to focus. If a long exposure time is required this can only be done by boosting the gain which increases the noise level. When the image is captured the correct exposure time (as set) will be used giving a high quality low noise image.

How can I switch off the focus meter in the live image window?

Right click in the image for the context menu.

Can I enlarge the live image window in KS?

No – the size is fixed.

Can I put my AxioCam on a macro stand?

Yes, it has a threaded mounting hole. All you need is a lens.

I see vignetting at the corners of the image.

This is probably due to the microscope C mount adaptor – you need a higher magnification. Some adaptors have an internal ring which can be removed. If it is not too severe you may be able to flatten the image using the ‘white’ reference’.

My AxioCam is getting warm to touch, is this normal?

It is normal for the AxioCam to become warm during operation. All models except the AxioCam MRc feature Peltier cooling for enhanced sensitivity. The cooling process transfers heat to the camera casing which is then lost to the surroundings by convection and radiation.
